Tayah Takes on Japan: A Rising Star’s Next Big Step

At just 15 years old, Tayah Morato is about to take her game international. After a standout first year with All Nations Rugby Union, Tayah has been selected to travel with the U16 team to Japan this September (17–30, 2025)—a massive step in her journey as a young athlete.

Her rugby journey so far has already taken her across Queensland:

  • Brisbane Tour – October 2024, U16s

  • Japan Tour – September 17–30, 2025, U16s

  • Brisbane Tour – October 23–26, 2025, U16s

Balancing school, training, and long-distance commitments hasn’t been easy, but Tayah’s love for the game keeps her pushing forward. Even with training sessions based in Townsville, she stays on track—hitting the gym, keeping fit, and showing up for her teammates. Her mum,

Renee Kettles, says it best:

“Tayah’s commitment to All Nations Rugby Union is something else. Even with trainings all the way in Townsville, she stays on track—hitting the gym, keeping fit, and doing it all because she loves playing alongside that team. Her dedication truly inspires me.”

For Tayah, Japan is not just about playing rugby—it’s about growth, challenge, and representing something bigger than herself:

“My sporting aspirations are to keep growing as an athlete and push myself to the highest level I can. I’ve just finished my first year with All Nations Rugby Union and now heading into my second, I’ll be traveling to Japan to play with them which is a massive step for me. I’m so excited to keep developing my skills, learning from the team, and representing something bigger than myself. My goal is to become the best version of me, both on and off the field, and to make my mum proud every step of the way.”

With Japan on the horizon and an exciting future ahead, Tayah is proving that when passion meets persistence, there are no limits to where the game can take you.
